This butter keeper consists of two parts:
• A bell-shaped lid that holds the butter
• A base filled with cold water to form an airtight seal that prevents oxygen from entering and preserves the butter.

Preparation and assembly:

1. Prepare the butter: Let the butter sit at room temperature until it reaches a spreadable, creamy consistency (softened, but not melted).
2. Fill the lid: Press the butter firmly into the cavity of the lid using a spoon. Make sure to smooth it out well and eliminate any air pockets so the butter doesn't detach and fall into the water. Leave a small margin at the rim.
3. Add water to the base: Pour cold or filtered water (about an inch or two deep, or enough to cover the internal fill line) into the bottom container.
4. Assemble the pieces: Close the butter crock by placing the lid upside down into the water-filled base. The water will lightly touch the butter, creating a natural airtight seal that blocks out air.
